August Bank Holiday!

(source: gov.uk)

Not long now until a glorious three day weekend - but how best to spend it?

**Here's everything that's going on around the UK this August Bank Holiday.**

Don't forget you can filter these results by location, genre, special tickets (eg VIP packages), quality of disabled access and more.

As usual, we have a few suggestions too...

Festivals + Music

One of the staples of August bank holiday weekend is the mighty Reading + Leeds festivals, this year boasting one of the UK's greatest line-ups of alternative music.

But that's not all: South Tyneside Festival boasts Billy Ocean, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and The Feeling, all for free.

The Big Feastival combines music with food - so you can enjoy a pavlova taste alongside Paloma Faith.

If you like your music a little more alternative, Victorious Festival in Portsmouth boasts The Flaming Lips, Primal Scream and Super Furry Animals.

Comedy

Luckily for us, comedians don't get the bank holiday off - at least not Michael McIntyre, Ken Dodd, Jimmy Carr, Alan Carr, Jerry Sadowitz, Katherine Ryan and more...

Of course the August Bank Holiday also marks the final days of the Edinburgh Fringe - here are our picks from that.

Theatre + Shows

The irrepressible Lady Boys of Bangkok return with their 'Beauties and the Beats' show, if you're after family fun you can't go wrong with Zippo's Circus or Horrible Histories who bring the history 'Barmy Britain' to London.

Or, if you're in the mood to see a classic (or not so classic) film translated onto a live stage, there's The Shawshank Redemption in Leeds, Shrek The Musical in Milton Keynes, and East is East in Bradford.

Fingers crossed for sun - but now you're armed with our detailed listings, there's no excuse for a dull weekend!
